North Northumberland is an area many people pass through between Newcastle and Edinburgh, either on the A1 by road or the East Coast Main Line by rail. Few people stop, but this is changing. The recently opened Alnwick Garden, the filming of Harry Potter at Alnwick Castle and the BBC ‘Springwatch’ and 'Autumnwatch' programmes on the Farne Islands has put the area firmly on the map. People are now discovering an area of the country that is relatively unspoilt. From the vast open beaches to the remote hills of the Cheviots, North Northumberland has a natural beauty just waiting to be discovered.
